We invite you to submit artistic works that transform urban space in an unconventional and unique way through the art of light. We are looking for light installations, interactive works, and large-scale projections that will redefine urban interiors in innovative ways. Our open call is addressed both to experienced light and visual artists and to emerging, debuting creators.
Project submissions are accepted until March 2.
The announcement of projects selected for realization during the 16th edition of Light.Move.Festival is planned for April 15, 2026.
The 16th edition of Light.Move.Festival will take place under the main theme “Dreams.” We are seeking artists whose works represent diverse and multi-layered interpretations of this guiding motif.
IDEA – Dreams
The 16th edition will tell a story about dreams which, in this pulsating, modern, constantly developing and demanding world, remain deeply human: dreams of closeness, building deep relationships, developing self-awareness, freedom of creation, respect for the planet, and a sense of meaning in existence.
Light will become a metaphor for energy, innovation, and constant motion, while the city will serve as both stage and set design where visions of tomorrow meet. For three evenings, streets, parks, and squares will transform into an open gallery of light art, where childhood dreams, visions of tomorrow, and images of a magnificent future will be revealed. In the vibrant, illuminated city, audiences will be able to slow down for a moment, look up at glowing, spectacular façades, and ask themselves: “What are my dreams? What do I truly want?”
The “Dreams” Festival will therefore tell not only stories of individual dreams, but also of a shared dream of a better tomorrow—one in which technology is a tool rather than a goal; light helps us see more rather than blinds us; and the city becomes a space for meetings, dialogue, and responsibility, not merely a backdrop for haste.
As every year, an important protagonist of the festival is the architecture of Łódź—factory palaces, Art Nouveau and eclectic structures that become screens for stories about a city unafraid to dream and to change.
Location
The route of the 16th edition of Light.Move.Festival covers the downtown area of Łódź—its main representative streets, passages, city parks, squares, and small plazas. Łódź is a post-industrial city, and the distances between installations and festival attractions are significant. Please take this into account and create a project that encourages audiences to travel a longer distance to experience the result of your work.
Project can be submitted in three categories:
1. Large-scale projections
2D/3D mapping, large-format animations, visual spectacles
2. Art projects
Light installations, including interactive installations; artistic illumination of park greenery; performative projects: dance, street theatre
3. Debut / experiment
Large-scale projections, light installations, music stops; a category for debuting and young creators, students and graduates of art schools, enthusiasts, and emerging interdisciplinary groups
Each category has its own specific requirements, which is why we have prepared dedicated downloadable forms available on our website.
Please read the Briefing, the rules, and complete the appropriate Application Form. These are the first steps for your artistic project to be considered for the 16th edition of the Light.Move.Festival – Festival of Kinetic Light Art.
