The 15. edition of LMF

The anniversary edition of the Kinetic Light Art Festival has begun!

This year’s event is a real treat for fans of visual arts and music – 11 projections, including 6 mappings, 19 light installations, including the LMF Kids zone and as many as 9 music zones.

“The anniversary edition is a special event for us. We wanted to celebrate such an important edition in a unique way,” emphasises Beata Konieczniak, artistic director of Light.Move.Festival.

This year’s edition features 2D/3D mappings, large-format projections and animations, which are loved by festival-goers, adds Beata Konieczniak. Viewers can enjoy as many as 11 projections, including 6 mappings! Artists from around the world showcase the beauty of Łódź’s architecture at locations such as 99 Piotrkowska Street, 76 Piotrkowska Street and 6 Tuwima Street. The most popular festival locations are also included – 3D mapping can be seen on the façade of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at 38 Sienkiewicza Street, and Plac Wolności has been covered with a breathtaking 360-degree projection that illuminates 12 buildings surrounding the square and 5 tenement houses on Piotrkowska Street, adjacent to the square.

The Poznański Family Palace – a centre of light

Light also told stories on the facades of the Poznański Family Palace – a gem among Łódź’s monuments. There, two mappings await festival-goers. The first, by the French group Spectaculaires, projected from Ogrodowa Street, refers to artistic trends in painting – from Rococo to street art. The second, created by the Bulgarian group MP-Studio (from the palace garden), tells the story of Abraham Koplowicz’s poem ‘Marzenie’ (‘Dream’), which the 14-year-old boy wrote in the Łódź ghetto. For the first time in the history of the festival, the mapping was accompanied by live music performed by composer Michał Kawecki.

The path of light installations

This year’s festival also features light art installations in urban spaces. Viewers can see as many as 19 installations in parks, arcades and squares! Among other things, viewers can enjoy a 125-metre installation consisting of two-metre figures, a five-metre futuristic head sculpture, and a unique space filled with laser beams and sound.

The youngest viewers are invited to the magical LMF Kids zone. Installations, projections and workshops dedicated to children are 8 points of this year’s programme. Visitors can enjoy, among other things, an almost 200-metre interactive floor that reacts to movement, 3.5-metre inflatable eyes, giant flying dragonflies and 3-metre light mushrooms. There is also no shortage of artistic activities – workshops, animations and the creation of joint works with animators.

LMF Music – that’s what the Festival sounds like

Light.Move.Festival. also features numerous musical stops. Festival-goers can enjoy as many as 9 different stages! The unique line-up includes alternative, jazz, pop and electronic music, as well as pieces played by orchestras.
