The anniversary edition of Light.Move.Festival. 2025 will feature a new category in the festival programme – LMF Kids for the youngest festival-goers.
The fifteenth edition of Light.Move.Festival. is fast approaching. The festival, held this year under the theme ‘RETURNS’, will enchant viewers on the last weekend of September. The festival returns to the locations most loved by the residents of Łódź, including city parks. “This year, we have planned artistic activities in two city parks – Staromiejski and Sienkiewicza,” emphasises Beata Konieczniak, artistic director of Light.Move.Festival. “City parks are unique spaces for presenting visual arts. During the Festival of Light, we will decorate trees with colourful images and set up light installations to create a unique, magical scenery.”
LMF KIDS – a new addition to the festival programme for children
The Light.Move.Festival. 2025 programme will be full of new features and surprises. ‘In order to meet the expectations of our festival-goers, we have created a section dedicated to our youngest visitors for the first time – the LMF Kids zone,’ reveals Beata Konieczniak, artistic director of Light.Move.Festival. “It will be a zone full of magic, developing creativity and imagination, designed for families who want to discover the world of light art in a friendly atmosphere.
We are delighted that the Lux Pro Monumentis Foundation has enriched the programme of the 15th anniversary edition of the Festival with the LMF Kids section. Sienkiewicz Park will be the perfect place for families with children as well as for audiences who enjoy admiring original, unconventional and fairy-tale works of art,” emphasises Adam Pustelnik, First Deputy Mayor of the City of Łódź. The new zone is not only intended to entertain, but also to develop the artistic sensitivity of the youngest participants of the Festival to the visual arts. However, we are convinced that viewers of all ages will find something for themselves there, he adds.
Art installations dedicated to children will be located in both festival parks where this year’s Festival will take place – Staromiejski and Sienkiewicza. As part of the theme of this year’s edition, ‘Returns’, giant mushrooms and illuminated dragonflies from LMF 2016 will return. “We tried to choose installations that children would like and that would create a fairy-tale landscape, but would also be interesting for adult festival-goers. The huge mushrooms from the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ edition were the perfect choice, admits the artistic director.
In Sienkiewicz Park, children will also be able to enjoy light animations and games led by professional animators, as well as Iza Karaszewska’s ‘Meadow of Dreams’, which will decorate the park glade with over a thousand glowing flowers for three festival evenings. But that’s not all. Near the park, in Schiller Passage, there will be an interactive floor for children and adults, which reacts to movement, creating multicoloured animations.
City parks at LMF 2025
Those seeking escape from the hustle and bustle of the city will find it in Staromiejski Park, which will host exceptional visual artists presenting art installations such as the 5-metre-high ‘Parallel Mind’ installation depicting a giant head by Sergiu Doroftei. Viewers will also have the opportunity to admire a picturesque projection on trees, created in real time by Claudia Reh, who encourages festival-goers to become artists and prepare projections together with her. Both parks will feature musical stops with light-up scenery that will highlight the unique festival setting, creating an immersive experience.
